There will be a reading check quiz every day, preceded by a Q/A session. Bring your book every day (the Popple will be watching), and come prepared with questions about ANYTHING you don’t understand.  Response = DAILY = 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 sentence summary, 1 sentence reaction, 1 thoughtful question. Reading assignments might vary depending on how far we get in class, so pay attention!

    • Tuesday night: to the end of chapter 12.
    • Wednesday night: to the end of chapter 14.
    • Thursday night: to the end of chapter 16. NO RESPONSE NEEDED for THURSDAY’S READING!

    When you have finished (and proofread) your interview essay:

    1. Share your document with me. Make sure you also share with “anybody with a link,” so everyone else can read it too.
    2. Use the little grid my your picture in Chrome and open Google Classroom.

    4. Click the Plus sign (+).
    5. Give your essay a groovy title and click on the Google docs icon and choose your finished essay.
    6. Go back to your document and print it.  PRINT LINK.
    7. Staple and put into the essay basket.
    8. Congratulate yourself on a job well done.

  • Research Paper due Friday. MONDAY!
    • Approximately 1000 words.
    • 3+ sources w/ properly formatted Works Cited. (Use EasyBib or equivalent.)
    • 2+ graphs, charts, maps, etc. These should help explain, not just decorate.
    • In-text citations.
    • Introductory anecdote.
    • Evident organization. (By question, by sub-topic, etc.)
    • Proper mechanics.

Week of December 4.

  • Find one good new research source per day. If it is a real book, bring it to class. If it is a website, bookmark it, and be prepared to show it to me the next day.
  • Vocabulary due Tuesday, Wednesday.

Week of November 27.

  • KBARR = NONFICTION = Finding a topic for research.
    • Read/Research for 20 minutes. Monday through Thursday night.
    • Please SUMMARIZE what you read in a paragraph or so AND evaluate it as a source for research.
    • Please include title and author of the book you are reading or the title and URL of the website.
    • You should develop 5 good questions for your topic by THURSDAY!
    • Yes, you need a CHART in your notebook this week.
