Writing/Checking 600 words. (Separate sheet.) Make your chart for the past week (11/6-11/13). If you want this to count for today, put today's date on it. If you want it to count for next Tuesday, put tomorrow's date (11/14) on it.
  1. The title of the story is: "The Money Plant."
  2. If you were in charge of the school, what would you change and why? Try to anticipate what problems people might have with your ideas.
  3. Write 5 things in the world you would change if you could. Tell why.
  4. Invent a new class to be offered here at Laguna...Convince the administration that it would be a good addition.
  5. Top Ten (20, 30?) Homework excuses...Show why each is good/bad etc.
  6. What if you couldn’t forget anything?
  7. The best place in town (thing to do) for kids is… because..
  8. Invent the ideal parents! Ideal brother or sister! Ideal school. Show how yours is best.
  9. What is your favorite word, and why? Make it a top ten list. Favorite slang phrases... etc...
  10. Magazine Article Ideas:
  11. If you could invite 2-3 figures from history to dinner, whom would they be? Show the dinner, especially the conversation. (Example: Hitler, Jesus, Albert Einstein.)

Letter to Tom (due Tuesday, 11/20--counts for 600!):  Think about Tom's predicaments: both with
Becky and the Injun Joe/oath-to-keep-mum situation.  Write a letter to Tom that:
  1. Shows you know the details of his main problems.
  2. Gives him advice on what to do next.
  3. Explains why your advice is good.
Make it at least 300 words long.
Use letter form. Use ink. Spelling, punctuation, and neatness count!
Proofread it when you are done.
Extra credit for good use of slang/dialect.
