Justification Paper. Demonstration of the process
and format.
First: Freewrite/brainstorm about colors that have a special
significance to you. (Use the back of this sheet for this.) These colors
can be associated with one or more aspects of your life: culture, ethnic
background, academic strengths, hobbies, family, friends, musical interests,
sports, career goals, etc. You will bring this to class with your rough
draft.
Second: Write a detailed essay of at least 350 words
that provides specific reasons why a particular color has special meaning
in your life. Rough draft and brainstorming due Tuesday 10/13.
Your essay should include:
-
Proper heading and an appropriate title.
-
A clear opening topic sentence that lets the reader know
that you will be discussing the relevance of a particular color to specific
aspects of your life.
-
Transition words that introduce each of your new points about
your chosen color (first of all, also, in addition, furthermore, finally...)
-
Specific reasons why you have selected this color including
showing details, and relevant commentary that help the reader easily understand
the color's special significance.
-
At least three of the academic or vocabulary words we have
been studying.
-
Conjunctions to join ideas (although, since, because...).
-
A concluding statement that thoughtfully wraps up the essay.
