Very Short Explanation
Paper.
Choose a word or a short phrase that you use as a slang
expression. It could be a word that is used differently from its original
meaning, like the words dig or cool, or it could
be a mixed-up word, like ginormous (which is now officially a word), or
even a slang term that only your family uses. Don't invent one just for
this assignment; it should be an expression you actually use naturally.
Keep it G-rated. Personal nicknames do not count. Then, in a paragraph
of about 100-150 words:
-
Explain the meaning of the word or phrase as you use it,
and tell which part of speech it is.
-
Show an example of the word or phrase being used. Illustrate
the context in which you would use this word or phrase.
-
Say why you use it instead of a more conventional word/phrase.
-
(Optional) Recount how you started using the word/phrase
or show its origin.
-
(Optional) Show variations of the word or related slang words.
