Vassar College
Vassar College
was started in 1861. It is currently ranked one of the top liberal arts
colleges in the country. Vassar College is located in Poughkeepsie, New
York. The population of the city is 100,000. 2,350 students attend Vassar,
and the average class size is about 16. Most of the students that are at
Vassar live on campus or nearby. To be at Vassar, students are required to
know at least one fluent foreign language, successfully complete at least
one quantitative course, and in their first year, complete a writing intensive
course.
Vassar is known for its liberal arts as well as its
compass. It has a beautiful 1000 acre campus that is wonderfully laid out
and makes you very comfortable to live on. There are many campus events
that go on at Vassar that the students organize.
In the athletics portion there are twenty-three varsity
teams, many club sports, and intramural leagues.
Vassar offers a great selection of information sources.
From their selective library all the way to their large computer lab.
Students are able to travel to parts of the U.S., England,
France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, and Spain for their studies.
Students that have attended Vassar for at least five
years often graduate and then continue into advanced study. Students from
Vassar are usually ranked very highly in law, medicine, business, education,
and Ph.D. candidates.
Vassar is a very selective school, and is said to
be difficult to get into. When accepting students they often look at their
academic ability, their high school performance, their test results, and
other involvement's besides in class.
