Walt Whitman
He was and is a famous poet who was born on May,
31 1891 he grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island in the 1820's and 1830's.
When he was about 12 he was very interested in Shakespeare and Homer.
When he was 17 he was a teacher in a one room school house, in 1841 he
became a journalist. In the 1870's his mother was dying after a bad
stroke then he published the Leaves of Grass. After that he
worked on more poems for a book and revising some of them. He died in 1892.
