Darker Brother

The usage of Darker Brother, found in the second line of I, Too, Sing America, is referring to the darker man; a black man. In some cases, Darker Brother could be interpreted as all black people, not only a single black person. In I, Too, Sing America, Darker Brother is used to describe all black people or a single black man. By interpreting it to be all black people, Langston Hughes would be able to fulfill one of his goals in his poetry and other writings, by being able to educate and teach people about life as a black person without personalizing it, so he can draw a neutral conclusion.
