Cleopatra

This is Queen Cleopatra of Egypt.

Her Family

Cleopatra VII was born in 69 B.C., in Alexandria, which was the capital of Egypt at that time. Her father was Egypt's pharaoh,
Ptolemy XII. Cleopatra's mother was probably Ptolemy XII's sister, Cleopatra V Tryphaena. It is common that siblings get
married with the members of the Ptolemaic dynasty. Cleopatra VII had two elder sisters, a younger sister, and two younger
brothers.

Her Lover; Caesar

When she became the queen of Egypt, Cleopatra VII was only 17 or 18 years old. It was because her father died, and her
elder sisters died too. With Egyptian tradition she got married with her brother, Ptolemy XIII, who was about 12 years old at
the time. When she struggled with Ptolemy XIII, Caesar came to Alexandria. At that time she were in a dangerous position,
she tried to meet him and change the position of his brother, Ptolemy XIII. And then she want to gain a come-from-behind
victory. She met Caesar smuggled inside an oriental rug. When the rug was unrolled, Cleopatra tumbled out. It is said that
Caesar was bewitched by her charm, and became her lover from that night.

Death of her lover

She later gave birth to a son, Ptolemy XV, called Caesarion or "Little Caesar." Caesar returned to Rome, and Cleopatra,
Ptolemy XV, Caesarion went there. On March 15, 44 B.C. a crowd of conspirators surrounded Caesar at a Senate meeting
and stabbed him to death. Knowing that she was also in danger, Cleopatra quickly left Rome with her entourage. Cleopatra
then made Caesarion her co-regent. Caesar's death caused anarchy and civil war in Rome. Eventually the empire was divided
by three men: Caesar's great-nephew Octavian, Marcus Lepidus, and Marcus Antonius.

Death of Cleopatra

After learning of Marc Antony's death Cleopatra let an asp (a deadly snake) bite her on her breast and she fell to her death.
